On Wednesday, 27th November 2024, NEMA Minna operations office conducted a training session for the NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards (EMVs) on disaster management. The program aimed to enhance the Corps members’ understanding of their pivotal roles in early response, community advocacy, and disaster preparedness.

The training also provided practical exposure to emergency response operations as participants were introduced to the Search and Rescue (SAR) Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) .

NEMA Uyo Operations Office had a monitoring/training session for NEMA/NYSC EMVs in Uyo LGA to bring them up to speed on current trends in disaster management thereby enhancing their capacity to effectively respond to emergencies and support disaster risk reduction efforts in their host communities.

The session was designed to:

1. Equip the EMVs with prerequisite knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.

2. Foster effective collaboration between EMVs, community stakeholders and emergency management agencies.

NEMA Uyo also monitors the performance of the EMVs as well as collaborate for upcoming awareness and sensitization campaigns in schools and motor parks.

This structured approach will help to ensure that the NEMA/NYSC EMVs in Uyo LGA are well-prepared to respond to emergencies and actively contribute to building disaster-resilient communities in Akwa Ibom State.
