




On Wednesday, 11th June 2025, a potentially dangerous situation was averted following the prompt and coordinated response to a fuel tanker incident at MMD Oil and Gas Limited, located along Gwarzo Road in the Janbulo area of Kano State.
The incident involved a 40,000-litre fuel tanker, with registration number DBT 693 XA, driven by Mr. Haruna Isa. The vehicle veered off the road and became dangerously tilted after its tires became trapped, posing a significant risk. Fortunately, the tanker remained upright and no spillage or damage was recorded.
Upon receiving the report, the Head of Operations at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, immediately dispatched a Search and Rescue team to the scene. A well-coordinated multi-agency response followed, involving personnel from NEMA, the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Kano State Fire Service (KSFS).
To ensure public safety, the area was swiftly cordoned off, restricting traffic flow and securing nearby residents and businesses. The rapid intervention by the emergency teams was crucial in stabilizing the situation and preventing any escalation.
This incident underscores the high level of preparedness, professionalism, and collaboration among emergency response agencies. Thanks to their joint efforts, the threat was neutralized without any casualties or damage to infrastructure.
NEMA’s Kano Operations Office remains on alert and continues to monitor the area. The agency commends the support of all stakeholders and urges the public to stay vigilant and cooperate fully with emergency services during such incident
