The distribution of food items donated by Saudi Arabia based international humanitarian organization, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) continue in Jigawa State after the official flag off in Hadejia.
The Director General NEMA Mrs Zubaida Umar was represented by the Director Special Duties Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim in flagging off the distribution.
In her address, the Director General NEMA explained that the items were donated by KSrelief for distribution by to complement efforts by the Federal Government to cushion the impacts of global economic situation being felt locally through provision of basic supports to the vulnerable persons.
She said a total of 1,750 food baskets would be distributed to 1,750 households of vulnerable persons enumerated by NEMA and Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency in 8 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency Dr Haruna Mairiga conveyed the appreciation of the State Government to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and NEMA for facilitating the relief supports and the Government of Saudi Arabia and KSrelief for the kind donation.
In his remarks, the Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje who was represented at the occasion also thanked the President and NEMA for facilitating the food supports to the his people. He further appreciated the King of Saudi Arabia and KSrelief for delivering the supports especially the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The food distribution commenced immediately after the flag-off ceremony at Hadejia and Auyo Local Government Areas. Staff of NEMA and Jigawa SEMA are distributing the food baskets directly to the beneficiaries. Security agencies are providing supports along with recognised local volunteers.
