NEMA Provides Relief to Wind/Rainstorm Victims in Jere, Kaduna State

In response to the recent wind and rainstorm that damaged homes and infrastructure in Jere, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to affected residents.

The relief items, approved by the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, included food supplies, building materials, and clothing for both adults and children. The distribution exercise took place at the Jere Emirate Council and was led by Ikramat Umar, Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit, on behalf of the Head of NEMA Kaduna Operations Office, Mallam Suleiman Muhammad.

The event was attended by traditional leaders, community heads, government representatives, and security personnel. Items distributed included rice, maize, vegetable oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, children’s clothing, wax prints, guinea brocade, and roofing sheets.

Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Jere, HRH Abdullahi Daniya Jere, the Hakimi of Jere commended NEMA for its swift response and encouraged beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to alleviate their hardship. A beneficiary representative also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Director General for facilitating the federal government’s support.
