Dauchi Community in Song Local Government Area (LGA) witnessed a milestone event today as internally displaced persons (IDPs) were relocated to newly constructed durable solutions settlements. This landmark project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), marks a significant step toward providing sustainable living conditions for displaced individuals in the area.
According to the Head of IOM, Mr. Maliki Hamidi, approximately 60 houses for 50 households, comprising 120 rooms, have been constructed for IDPs and returnees. “This relocation event demonstrates the power of collaboration in addressing displacement challenges. We are grateful to USAID for their generous funding. The resettlement program will last for five days to ensure that everyone involved receives their allocated house,” he stated.
The project’s focus on durable solutions aligns with global efforts to provide sustainable living conditions for displaced persons. Durable solutions involve empowering displaced individuals to achieve self-reliance and rebuild their lives.
NEMA’s participation in this relocation event underscores its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting sustainable development.
