The commemorative event, held at NEMA Headquarters in Abuja, brought together management and staff of the Agency, alongside representatives of key stakeholder organizations, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police Force, Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet), among others.

This year’s celebration, themed “Mission: Possible,” underscored the power of commitment, teamwork, and compassion in overcoming challenges in humanitarian service delivery. The occasion also highlighted the vital role of service excellence and customer relations in public administration.

In her remarks, the Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, described the celebration as “a powerful reminder that no challenge is insurmountable when service is driven by purpose and passion.”
The DG noted that at NEMA, the Agency’s customers are millions of Nigerians whose lives and livelihoods depend on its efficiency, empathy, and professionalism.

“Disasters often strike without warning, and a timely word or swift response can make the difference between despair and hope,” she added.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar reiterated NEMA’s continuous efforts to strengthen quality assurance and compliance in humanitarian service delivery, ensuring that relief interventions reach the right people at the right time while maintaining integrity and accountability.

She explained further that “Quality assurance ensures that every relief effort reaches the right people, at the right time, with the right resources. Compliance strengthens public trust and aligns our interventions with both national policies and international standards.”

She commended NEMA’s workforce for their selflessness and professionalism, describing them as the Agency’s greatest asset.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar urged staff to remain steadfast in their dedication to public service, emphasizing that effective disaster management begins with the responsiveness of every team member. She also expressed gratitude to partners and stakeholders for their continued collaboration, assuring that NEMA will sustain an open, transparent, and people-centred leadership style.

The Director, Special Duties NEMA, Mrs. Fatima Suleiman Kasim, in her welcome remarks described the celebration as an opportunity to reaffirm NEMA’s commitment to service excellence.

She stated that at NEMA, “service to humanity is not just a responsibility — it is our calling.” She added that the theme “Mission: Possible” resonates deeply with the Agency’s mandate of turning challenges into opportunities and ensuring that hope endures even in the most difficult circumstances.

Several stakeholders present at the event delivered goodwill messages, pledging to deepen collaboration with NEMA towards enhancing disaster management and humanitarian response across the country.
