In accordance with the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Action Plan, NEMA North West Zonal Office staff were at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Government College, Kaduna to deliver lectures for the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Corp Members on Disaster Management.
The Zonal Coordinator, Abbani Imam Garki represented by the Head, Search and Rescue Unit, Abdukadir Mohammed and Head of DRR unit, Hajia Hassana Kumo engaged the NYSC members on Disaster Management in Nigeria.
The staff highlighted the pivotal roles expected from the corp members to serve as emergency vanguards during their Community Development Service.
NEMA has been collaborating with the NYSC to involve corp members to serve as Emergency Management Vanguards (EMVs) in their respective Places of Primary Assignment to ensure adequate preparedness and responses to disasters.
Recalled the NEMA/NYSC EMVs project is aimed at using corp members as vanguards for a uniform proactive disaster management during their one service year; to provide their services in organized ways to aid in disaster response across the nation.
