NEMA commences delivery of the 100 trucks of food items to vulnerable persons in Kano

The National Emergency Management Agency has commenced delivery of the 100 trucks of food items announced by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq for distribution to vulnerable persons affected by the COVID-19 lockdown in Kano State. More trucks of the food are also be delivered by the Agency from the silos as approved by the President.

The food items are being transported by NEMA from the Federal Government’s strategic reserved as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari as palliatives under the response to contain the COVID-19 pandemic through restriction of movements.

The food reserve where the items are being evacuated are located in Minna, Dutsinma, Yola, Gusau and Lafiya.
The items include bags of maize, Rice, millets, sorghum.
Coordinator, NEMA Territorial Office in Kano Mallam Sanusi Ado is receiving the items which are being offloaded in warehouses provided by Kano State Government in the presence of officials of the State Emergency Management Agency led by the Executive Secretary Dr Saleh Jili.
