
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ado-Ekiti Operations Office, on 19th August 2025, organized a training session for members of the NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards (EMVs) Community Development Service (CDS) group in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The session focused on strengthening the capacity of corps members in disaster management and enhancing their preparedness for emergency response. Participants were introduced to key concepts of disaster risk reduction, emergency response strategies, and the crucial responsibilities of NYSC EMVs in supporting national disaster management efforts.
A detailed presentation titled “Disaster Management in Nigeria and the Role of NYSC EMVs” was delivered, providing valuable insights into disaster prevention, response coordination, and the importance of volunteerism in building resilient communities.
To complement the lecture, a practical demonstration on First Aid and casualty handling was conducted. This hands-on session equipped corps members with essential life-saving skills to effectively respond during emergencies.
The training concluded with an interactive engagement and a group photograph involving NEMA staff, Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) officials, and members of the EMV CDS group.
The exercise was highly impactful, reinforcing the vital role of disaster preparedness, volunteerism, and youth participation in advancing national emergency response efforts.
