National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, distributed relief materials to households affected by the 2024 flood in Enugu State. The distribution took place on December 4th and 5th in Oduma (Aninri LGA) and Nsukka Town, targeting Enugu West Senatorial District and Nsukka/Igboeze Federal Constituency.

Representing the Acting Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Ngozi Echeazu, Ezeani Nnanyelugo highlighted the severe impact of the September-October flood, which caused widespread displacement, destruction of property, and loss of livelihoods. Relief items, including food and non-food items, were provided as federal government support to mitigate the disaster’s effects. Recipients were advised to use the items wisely and avoid practices that contribute to flooding, such as building on floodplains and blocking waterways.

Community leaders and Hon. Chidi Obetta expressed gratitude to the federal government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, for the intervention aimed at fostering socio-economic resilience. The event featured the direct distribution of relief materials and concluded successfully.
