National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde, distributed federal relief materials to flood victims in Ondo Town, Ondo West Local Government, on December 2, 2024. The event aimed to support those affected by the disaster.
NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by Abogunrin Adesina of the Ekiti Operations Office, expressed condolences to the Osemawe and the affected residents. She highlighted the role of human activities in causing floods and urged the public to avoid building on waterways, dumping refuse in drainages, and to relocate from flood-prone areas. The relief materials were intended to alleviate the disaster’s impact and support affected livelihoods.
Hon. Makinde thanked NEMA for its swift response. Distributed items included food (rice, garri, tomatoes, salt, seasoning cubes, and vegetable oil), clothing materials (Guinea brocade, wax print), and livelihood tools (sewing machines, grinding machines, roofing sheets, nails, and cement).
