NEMA HANDS OVER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ASSORTED GRAINS FOR VULNERABLE PERSONS IN OGUN STATE

It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR approved the release of 42,000MT of assorted food commodities from National Strategic Reserve under the custody of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and food security.

The commodities which include maize,millet, Sorghum, and garri were directed to be distributed to vulnerable Nigerians across 36 States of the Federation including FCT, to cushion the current economic down-turn being experienced in the country.

On 6th June,2024 the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) handed over 780MT of Maize (15,600 bags of 50kg) and 94MT of Garri (3,7600 bags of 25kg) respectively to Ogun State Government being their allocation of the released grains.

The items were handed over to Ogun State deputy Gov. Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyodele for onward distribution.

During the handing over, the Director General National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs Umar Zubaida who was represented by South West Zonal Director, Mr Stephen Adewale noted that the distribution guidelines should be strictly followed and the identified vulnerable people across the 20 LGAs of the state should fully benefit.

While receiving the items, the Deputy Gov. Appreciated the kind gesture by Federal Government and promised to adhere to the distribution guidelines.

The handing over was done in the presence of relevant stakeholders such as SEMA, DSS, EFCC, ICPC, NPF,Hon. Comm. for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, representive of religious bodies as well as Local Government Chairmen.
