Three communities in Kaduna South Local Government Area have received relief support from the Federal Government through the North West Zone (NWZ) office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) following a recent flood disaster in the area. The relief distribution was led by Zonal Coordinator Imam Garki Abbani and included food, non-food items, clothing, and building materials aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected communities.
The distribution event, held in Barnawa, was attended by Hon. Hussaini Mai-Kero, the Member representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, alongside community leaders and local government officials.
Beneficiaries from Tudun Nupawa, Tudun Wada, and Anguwar Mu’azu received items such as bags of rice, maize, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, salt, spaghetti, tomato paste, and beverages. Building materials like cement, roofing sheets, zinc nails, 3-inch nails, as well as clothing for men, women, and children, and bath towels were also distributed.
Hon. Hussaini Mai-Kero, who facilitated the approval of the relief materials, expressed gratitude to NEMA and its Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, for their prompt response to the disaster. He emphasized the importance of the agency’s support in aiding the recovery process for the affected communities.
The Zonal Coordinator extended the Director General’s regards and sympathies to the victims, noting that while the relief items provide crucial support, they cannot fully compensate for the significant losses caused by the flood.
Community leaders from the three areas expressed their heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanking the Federal Government, NEMA, Hon. Mai-Kero, and all those who contributed to the assistance.
