National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through the Northwest Zonal office (NWZ) distributed relief materials to flood victims in Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna, on Thursday. The distribution, led by Aisha Yakubu from the Relief and Rehabilitation Unit with support from KADSEMA, included food, clothing, and building materials to alleviate the victims’ suffering.
The event in Saminaka was attended by Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, representing Lere East in the State Assembly, alongside community leaders and other officials. The distributed items included rice, maize, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, salt, spaghetti, tomato paste, beverages, cement, roofing sheets, nails, clothing, and bath towels.
Hon. Tanimu and state officials expressed gratitude to NEMA and its Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, for their swift response. Suleiman Mohammed, the Zonal Coordinator, extended the Director General’s condolences and emphasized that the relief is a supportive measure, not a replacement for the victims’ losses. Community leaders also thanked the federal government and all contributors for their assistance.
