In the wake of a severe windstorm that struck parts of Adamawa State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola Operations Office, undertook a comprehensive post-disaster assessment across Shelleng and Guyuk Local Government Areas.
The assessment was carried out in collaboration with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), community leaders of the affected areas, and other relevant stakeholders
In Shelleng LGA, the team identified widespread destruction of residential buildings, schools, and places of worship, leaving many families homeless.
Similarly, in Guyuk LGA, the assessment covered six wards, where it was observed that a significant number of houses and facilities were completely damaged. The team also recorded displacement of residents and disruption of socio-economic activities in both LGAs.
The findings from the joint assessment will guide appropriate response interventions to alleviate the suffering of affected populations.
NEMA assures the public of its continued commitment to working with partners to provide timely and coordinated support.
