NEMA HEAD OF OPERATIONS LEADS ASSESSMENT VISIT TO BAKIN KOGI RIVER IN YOLA NORTH

The Head of NEMA Yola Operations Office, Mr. Ladan Ayuba, on Sunday 10th August 2025, in company with the Director of Planning from ADSEMA, led an assessment visit to the Bakin Kogi River in Yola North LGA following reports of rising water levels.

According to the assessment findings, the river is currently at alert level, indicating a heightened risk of flooding in surrounding communities. During the visit, Mr. Ayuba stressed the importance of early preparation to safeguard lives and property.

Mr. Ayuba urged residents living along the riverine areas to remain vigilant and to begin preparations to relocate to higher ground in anticipation of possible flooding.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. The safety of our communities is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to heed the warning signs and take precautionary measures,” Mr. Ayuba stated.

He affirmed commitment of NEMA to work closely with the ADSEMA, the Marine Police, and other relevant agencies to monitor the situation and provide timely updates to the public.
