NEMA CONDUCTS ASSESSMENT OF OYAN DAM FLOOD IN OGUN STATE

The aftermath of Oyan water dam release is taking its toll on the residents of Isheri community and it’s environs as many households have been ravaged by the flood.

NEMA SWZO in conjunction with Ogun State SEMA conducted on the- spot assessment of the flood that claimed four (4) lives, destroyed property worth millions, submerged roads; which prevent means of livelihoods and sacked many people from their homes.

The affected people have been living in deplorable conditions which calls for humanitarian assistance from Federal government and other developing partners to enable them restart their lives.A resident, MR Biggerd Oluchi called on the federal Government to find lasting solutions to the perennial flooding by dredging the rivers around the area so as to be able to accommodate more water. .Earlier, the team led by the ZC, Mr Saheed Akiode paid a courtesy call on the permanent Secretary, Min. of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs and Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Ogun State in their offices respectively to map out modality on how NEMA can come to the aid of those affected by the Dam flood. The Comm., Mrs. Funmi Efuwape who received the team in her office,decried the living conditions of the affected-persons and called for quick response from NEMA and other relevant agencies to support the victims.
