NEMA Lagos Territorial Office and the Federal Ministry of Health, Department of Port Health have joined forces to train 245 Community Health Workers in Lagos State. This collaborative effort focuses on Health and Fire Prevention Outreach, aiming to raise awareness and build resilience against fire disasters and weather-related health challenges. The initiative also involves vaccinating community members against prevalent viral illnesses in Lagos. NEMA officials delivered the sensitization campaign in Yoruba, Pidgin, and English. The joint approach aims to address recurring fire outbreaks and extreme weather during the transitional period from dry to rainy seasons, particularly addressing health challenges like Cerebro Spinal Meningitis. This platform seeks to strengthen Nigerians’ resilience to disasters through a bottom-up strategy for disaster risk reduction. The target audience includes leaders of Market Associations, market traders, transport unions, and others. The event occurred at Ojuwoye Market, Mushin, in the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
