The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Uyo Operations Office on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, joined other stakeholders at a sensitization program organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Uyo Branch. The event, which held at the Federal Secretariat Conference Hall, Uyo, focused on five thematic areas of national campaigns and orientation.
Representing the Head of Operations, Mrs. Mmandu Aisueni, NEMA’s team was led by Mr. Utitofon Morgan. the sensitization program attracted notable participants, including the Director General of NOA, represented by Barr. Tessy Nnalue; the Zonal Director of NOA South-South Zone, Mr. Ibok Otu; the Akwa Ibom State Director of NOA, Mr. Mkpoutom Mkpoutom; as well as heads of government agencies, the media, and civil society groups. Media houses in attendance included Comfort FM, XL FM, and the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC).
Delivering a paper titled “Ways to Control Flood in Our Communities”, NEMA’s representative, Mr. Morgan, highlighted three key pillars of flood risk management—preparation, prevention, and response. He emphasized practical community-based measures for reducing the impact of floods, while also sharing NEMA Uyo’s past and ongoing efforts in public awareness and sensitization.
In her opening remarks, Barr. Nnalue, representing the DG NOA, welcomed participants and commended the strong presence of stakeholders, which she said demonstrated a collective commitment to building an enlightened, secure, and united Nigeria.
The program ended with a vote of thanks and closing remarks delivered by Mrs. Atim Otoyo, Deputy Director and Head of Planning, Research, and Strategy, NOA. Group photographs were taken to mark the occasion.
