NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, emphasized the need for preparedness, prevention, mitigation, and adaptation in disaster risk management. She highlighted the urgency to develop a comprehensive action plan aligned with the Sendai Framework and the African Program of Action to address emerging hazards like conflicts, banditry, and extreme weather. The goal is to create a strategy that enhances disaster resilience and supports sustainable development beyond 2030.

Participants from various agencies, including the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and Federal Road Safety Corp, delivered goodwill messages, stressing the importance of data in disaster management.
