World Humanitarian Day 2018

To mark the 2018 World Humanitarian Day, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) along with other humanitarian agencies held a roadwalk in Abuja. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr Boss Gida Mustapha who was represented by a Permanent Secretary Mr Gabriel T. Aduda joined the DG NEMA Engr Mustapha Y. Maihaja and Mrs Shiza Bada, a Deputy Director in National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs that represented the Honourable Federal Commissioner in leading the roadwalk which began at the Old Parade Ground Garki and passed through Moshood Abiola Road to JS Tarka street linking to Tafawa Balewa Way and Nnamndi Arzikiwe way and back through Moshood Abiola road to terminate back at the Old Parade Ground. United Nations systems in Nigeria actively participated in the activities for the World Humanitarian Day.
A representative of the UN Resident Coordinator and Head of the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria Edward Kallon delivered the United Nations Secretary General message.
The Roadwalk had participants drawn from NEMA, NCFRMi, UN Systems in Nigeria, Nigerian Immgration Service, Nigerian military, Police, NSCDC, Federal Ministry of Health, FRSC, FCT SEMA, Nigerian Red Cross Society, NGOs that include Salute Nigeria and Value Re-orientation & Development Initiative for Arica.
