Following a distress call from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency regarding an inferno that erupted around 1:00 am at Yola Main Market, the NEMA search and rescue team, under the leadership of Mr. Ladan Ayuba, Head of Operations, in collaboration with ADSEMA and other relevant stakeholders, mobilized to the scene to rescue and assess the extent of damage.
Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Prof. Farauta Caleb, along with top government officials, also visited the site to express solidarity with the affected people and traders who lost their goods and livelihoods. She offered heartfelt the state government sympathies and prayers for those affected.
The DG NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, also extends heartfelt sympathy to the Adamawa State Governor and the affected individuals who lost their property in the recent fire disaster at Yola Main Market, Yola South LGA.
Fortunately, no lives were lost, but the inferno resulted in the loss of over 250 shops, which were reduced to ashes, along with many items worth millions of naira
