The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of banditry attacks across five Local Government Areas in Kaduna State: Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Kagarko, and Kajuru.
The relief, approved by NEMA Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, was handed out by NEMA’s Kaduna Operations Office in collaboration with KADSEMA and other stakeholders. The distribution followed an assessment of damage caused by the attacks, which claimed lives and destroyed properties.
The flag‑off ceremony was attended by Local Government Chairmen, State Assembly Members, traditional leaders, and community representatives. The Head of NEMA Kaduna Operations Office, Mallam Suleiman Muhammad, represented by staff from the Relief and Rehabilitation Unit, led the direct distribution.
KADSEMA’s representative, Fatimah Abubakar Ibrahim, commended NEMA for its quick response, urging victims to utilize the relief materials to alleviate their hardship. The Chairmen of Kajuru and Kagarko Local Government Areas, Hon. Dauda Mafarki and Hon. Muhuyideen Abdullahi Umar, also expressed their gratitude to NEMA for its tireless efforts.
The relief package included 400 bags each of rice (25kg) and maize (25kg), 300 cartons of spaghetti, and 40 cartons each of seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and vegetable oil. Mr. Maikori Samuel, Council Secretary of Kubacha Chiefdom, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanking the federal government and NEMA for their timely support.
