
On Tuesday, 29th January 2025, the International Disaster Management Office of the European Union (ECHO) team paid a working visit to the headquarters of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Abuja. The visit also included a representative from the World Food Programme (WFP), further emphasizing the collaborative efforts to strengthen disaster management and humanitarian response in Nigeria
The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, expressed her gratitude to the ECHO team for the visit. She highlighted the importance of such collaborations in addressing the challenges of disaster management, humanitarian crises, and food insecurity in the region. Mrs. Umar emphasized NEMA’s commitment to fostering partnerships with international organizations to enhance its capacity for timely and effective disaster response.
The visit signifies a step toward improved synergy between NEMA and international stakeholders in ensuring the well-being and safety of communities vulnerable to disasters and other emergencies.
