NEMA SOUTH WEST ZONE ATTENDS STAKEHOLDERS CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP IN IBADAN

A-two day consultative stakeholders workshop was organized today 22nd January,2024 in Ibadan,Oyo State.

The workshop was aimed at raising awareness of policymakers on the need for development of comprehensive strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction in Nigeria and to foster collaborative efforts for the implementation of plan for efficient disaster risk management in the country.

The program was organized by National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with African Union Commission (AUC), Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) and United Nation Development Program ( UNDP).

The workshop was declared open by DG NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed Habib who was represented by South West Zonal Coordinator , Saheed Akiode.

In his address, the DG underscored the importance of Preparedness, Mitigation and Risk Reduction adoption as action plan for Disaster Management and stressed the need for collaborative efforts by key stakeholders in Disaster Management.

Participants were drawn from strategic Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and they are expected to develop comprehensive document for Disaster Risk Management in Nigeria during the program.
