NEMA ORGANIZES ONE- DAY STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY IN BAUCHI STATE.

The National Emergency Management Agency Gombe Operations office organized a One-day meeting on fire prevention and safety in communities of Bauchi state. In Her opening remarks, the Head of Operations Ummuna Ahmed stated that fire outbreaks are on the increase in recent times due to changes in weather conditions, human negligence, electrical surge and inadequate sensitization and awareness of the general public on how best to prevent fire outbreaks in our homes, schools,markets places among others. Moreover, She highlighted some of the negative consequences of fire disaster to include lost of lives and property, injury, lost of means of livelihood, displacement, trauma among other negative consequences. She therefore called for a concerted effor by all stakeholders in sensitizing the general public. In their response, stakeholders appreciated NEMA GOO for organizing the meeting and promised to scale up the sensitization especially in schools, offices, markers and homes to ensure safety of lives and property. At the end of the meeting it was unanimously agreed that, a WhatsApp group be created to ensure Free flow of information among stakeholders. Those in attendance during the meeting include NEMA, SEMA, FFS, SFS, NSCDC, FRSC, NOA, NPF, GEVCs, JNI, NRCS and Media.
