On November 13, 2024, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), led by the South-South Zonal Coordinator Adebiyi Babatunde Razaq, distributed relief materials to flood-affected individuals in Biseni Clan, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. Representing NEMA’s Director-General, Dr. Zubaida Umar, Razaq, alongside Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency (BYSEMA) officials, extended sympathies and urged beneficiaries to use the relief items wisely to alleviate the impacts of the disaster.
The event was attended by local leaders, including Yenagoa Mayor Hon. Bulodisiye Nduwari, Governor’s Special Representative Hon. Zuwa Konugah, Rural Development Area Chairman Hon. Mrs. Angela Akpana Richard, and traditional chiefs. They praised NEMA’s rapid response, which provided essential items such as food, mosquito nets, foam mattresses, and sanitary products to six Biseni camps. Chief Freeman Ovuru and other officials expressed gratitude for NEMA’s timely assistance. Beneficiaries also voiced appreciation, with one noting that the aid brought much-needed relief, allowing them to sustain themselves in the camp.
