
The NEMA South-South Zonal Office conducted a capacity-building training on February 11, 2025, for the Obio/Akpor LGA and Port Harcourt City NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards (EMVs). The training aimed to enhance corps members’ knowledge of disaster management for effective community development service.
The Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Ebhodaghe Eric, welcomed the participants alongside CDS Coordinator, Mrs. Oby Amah, urging them to be proactive and visible in their roles. The training covered critical topics, including disaster management, crowd control with a focus on stampede prevention, waste management, and hazard identification.
Corps members were introduced to search and rescue equipment by NEMA officers. The Zonal Coordinator encouraged collaboration between the corps members and NEMA staff to develop an activity roadmap. Participants were urged to utilize their training for grassroots sensitization in schools, markets, and public spaces.
In conclusion, Mr. Ebhodaghe Eric appreciated the corps members and their coordinator for their commitment and assured them of NEMA’s continuous support especially in their sensitization programs.
