NEMA Uyo Operations Office paid a courtesy visit to the Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army/Commander Sector 4 Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe; Brigadier General J. Ibrahim in Mbiokporo Military Cantonment, Nsit Ibom, Akwa Ibom State. This visit underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation and collaboration in addressing both emergency and security challenges in the state.
Head of Operations emphasized that disaster management is multi- sectorial and requested the military’s collaboration with the Agency in the area of security, intelligence and information sharing, technical support as well as capacity building.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier J. Ibrahim in his response appreciated NEMA for the visit, acknowledged their readiness to support the agency in terms of security, emergency evacuation and other technical areas that their services may be required. He further stated that they will need the agency to train their DRU on flood response, and search and rescue during their exercises.
