NATIONAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY LAUNCHES DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF AID FOR VICTIMS OF BANDITRY ATTACKS IN LAU AND USSA LGAS, TARABA STATE.

This humanitarian initiative, aimed at alleviating the suffering of the victims, was spearheaded by Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the newly appointed Director General of NEMA, who expressed heartfelt sympathy with the Taraba State Government and the afflicted populace.

Representing the DG, Mr. Giwa Kurutsi from the NEMA Yola Operations Office, led the distribution exercise in collaboration with the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency, stating that about 758 individuals in Ussa and 1236 beneficiaries would benefit in Lau LGA, ensuring that relief materials reached the intended recipients promptly.

NEMA remains dedicated to supporting affected communities nationwide, reiterating its commitment to providing timely and effective assistance during crises.

In response, the Chairmen of Lau LGA, Honorable Jatau Nigeria Silamma, and USSA LGA, Chairman Honorable Ambassador Peter Shewun Stephen, praised the Federal Government and NEMA for their swift response in providing essential supplies to the affected individuals, assuring equitable distribution among targeted beneficiaries.

Additionally, Honorable Savior Noku, Commissioner for the Ministry of Special Duties, Humanitarian Services, and Regional Development, commended the Federal Government and NEMA for their benevolent gesture, highlighting its significance in mitigating the challenges faced by the victims.

The distributed items, including food, non-food essentials, and building materials, aim to support the affected communities in their recovery process.

The distribution event, held at the Taraba State Transportation Corporation in Jalingo, received extensive coverage from both print and electronic media, emphasizing the importance of relief efforts and unity in addressing humanitarian crises.
