The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as lead agency of the CCCM/Shelter & Non-Food Items (NFI) Sector, has facilitated a two-day midterm review workshop in Maiduguri to strengthen humanitarian coordination and response in Nigeria’s crisis-affected areas.
The workshop brought together representatives from government agencies, the United Nations, international and local NGOs, and community-based partners to review progress in humanitarian operations, discuss new global cluster resolutions, exchange experiences, and identify gaps and challenges.
Head of NEMA Operations in Maiduguri, Sirajo Garba Abdullahi, delivered the welcome remarks and moderated sessions throughout the program. He emphasized the Agency’s commitment to fostering collaboration and driving sector-wide improvements in humanitarian response.
Participants included State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs) from Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, alongside key national and international partners. The workshop ended with clear resolutions and practical strategies aimed at improving sector-based humanitarian interventions across the BAY states and other affected regions in Nigeria.
