ADVANCE DETECTIVE COURSE 79: NEMA DELIVERS LECTURE TO POLICE AND OTHERS ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zonal office Jos on. thursday 21st November 2024 delivered a lecture to the participants of ”Advanced Detective Course79’/2024 at Police Staff College, Jos Plateau State.

Mr. Nurudeen Musa, Assistant Chief Search and Rescue Officer delivered the lecture titled ‘the Role of NEMA in Disaster Management’ in Nigeria on behalf of the Zonal coordinator Mr Eugene Nyelong. The paper highlighted the origin of disaster management in Nigeria, the paradigm shift from disaster management to Disaster Risk Reduction and the agency’s role in coordination of disaster in all it ramifications in Nigeria.

The 6 weeks long course has participants from the police, the military, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and Nigeria Security and a civil Defense Corps (NSCDC). Others are the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
