NEMA Responds to Tanker Accident in Zaria, Kaduna

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Kaduna Operations Office, at the early hours of Monday 11th August, 2025, responded swiftly to a tanker accident involving two trailers traveling along Danmagaji-Kwangila Express way, Kaduna-Zaria Highway.

On receiving the report, the Head, NEMA Kaduna Operations Office, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad directed the ERT team on standby to respond to the incident which occured in Zaria, Kaduna.

Having arrived the scene, the team discovered that the accident was as a result of tyre burst and unfortunately rolled over and content split leading to inferno which completely reduces the tankers to ashes.

However, no death recorded following the incident but one driver sustain injuries and was rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Teaching Hospital, Zaria for medication.

NEMA, along with other critical stakeholders like KADSEMA, FRSC, State and Federal Fire Services, Police, Civil Defense, DPR, Petrol Tanker Drivers, KASTLEA and Vigilantes, cordoned off the area to ensure a hitch-free operations.

This incident indicates the need and importance of inter-agency collaboration towards proactive emergency response and preparedness in safeguarding lives and properties, always previously coordinated by NEMA in averting a potential disaster.

NEMA at the end commended all stakeholders for their professionalism during the operation, highlighting the importance of multi inter-agency collaboration and proactive emergency preparedness in safeguarding lives and properties.
