As part of ongoing preparations for the upcoming Flood Disaster Response Simulation Exercise (SIMEX), a team from NEMA Headquarters, led by the Chief Operations Officer (COO), visited Kano State from 15th to 17th June 2025 for a confirmatory reconnaissance and stakeholders engagement.
During the visit, the team validated and approved the location earlier proposed by the Kano Operations Office (KOO) at Wudil, near the Kano River, during an initial scoping mission. In addition, key community leaders in the area were visited and informed about the planned simulation exercise.
The visit also featured a stakeholders meeting convened by the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (KNSEMA), where participants were briefed on the current level of preparedness for the SIMEX. The exercise in Kano is codenamed “EX-CETON RAYUKA”, which means “Saving Lives” in Hausa.
