The Zonal Coordinator Northwest Abbani Imam Garki was present at the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop on strengthening system for Local Government Emergency Management Committees (LEMCS) and stakeholders at Bafra Hotel kaduna.
The workshop which was organized by the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) in collaboration with the European Union Humanitarian Aid,,UNICEF, NEMA, Christian Aid and Nigerian Red Cross, was declared open by Her Excellency Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State.
While declaring the workshop open, Her Excellency Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, appreciated the organizers of the workshop and all support partners, She also commended the Executive Secretary KADSEMA and his team for their efforts in ensuring the workshop comes to fruition.
She mentioned that the significance of the workshop cannot be downplayed as it is organized to build the capacity of Local Emergency Management Committees and stakeholders in disaster Early Warning Systems (EWS) in the state. She urged all participants to maximize the opportunity and learn from the experts.
The Executive Secretary KADSEMA Dr. Usman Mazadu earlier during his welcome address appreciated each stakeholder for honoring their invitation and mentioned that their presence was not by chance but due to their commitment in building the resilience of Kaduna State.
He appreciated the State Government for all the support they have accorded to the Agency that has allowed him to take such giant steps in the little time since He assumed the mantle of leadership.
The Zonal Coordinator during his Goodwill message , mentioned that the absence of functional LEMCs has always created a huge gap in the disaster management cycle and thus this workshop is apt and timely. He encouraged participants to take keen interest while wishing them the best of luck.
The event had in attendance the Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) from the 23 LGAs, key actors in the disaster response sector and representatives of development partners.
