NEMA Participates in Coordinating Meeting on Flood Response in Ogun State

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibadan Operations Office, has participated in a coordinating meeting on Anticipatory Action for Riverine Flood in Ogun State. The session, organized by the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Ogun State Branch, brought together key stakeholders in disaster management to identify roles, strengthen collaboration, and assess preparedness for effective flood response.

The Head of Ibadan Operations, Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, who was represented by Information Officer, Abayomi Emmanuel, reaffirmed NEMA’s role as the coordinating agency in disaster management. He emphasized that NEMA works closely with stakeholders to sensitize flood-prone communities, ensuring that residents are adequately prepared to mitigate the impact of potential disasters.

Other stakeholders at the meeting commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for the initiative and contributed valuable insights that enriched the discussions. The program was facilitated under REBUMAA (Resilience Building through Multi-Sectoral Approach in Anticipatory Action), a research-based project promoting proactive disaster risk reduction.

Organizations present at the meeting included NEMA, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), NiMet, NIHSA, NESREA, State Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment, and media representatives.
