
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Minna Operations Office on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, joined other critical stakeholders at a Town Hall Meeting on “Values Reorientation for Students Against Sign Out Extreme Practice, Flood Mitigation, Government Policies, Programs & Activities, Nigerian Identity Project & National Symbols, and Security Awareness.”
The program, organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Niger State Office, was held at the NLC Conference Hall, Minna. It brought together government agencies, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, and youth groups to deliberate on strategies to promote positive values and strengthen national cohesion.
In attendance were the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu (represented by Princess Egbe Joseph), the State Director of NOA, Mallam Yahaya Ibrahim Gbongbo, Head of NEMA Minna Operations Office, Mallam Hussaini Isah, Director General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Mallam Abdullahi Baba-Ara, the State Director of Federal Information Resource Centre, Hajiya Asabe Sule, and the State Chairman of Nigerian Youths Association, Mallam Abdullahi M. Ishaq. Other participants included representatives of the NUJ, Human Rights groups, Global Peace Foundation of Nigeria, religious leaders, the Provost of Newgate College of Health Technology, and Persons With Disabilities, among others.
According to the NOA, the meeting became necessary to address prevailing social trends, especially among students and youths who are the leaders of tomorrow, and to encourage their participation in government policies and programs.
The interactive session dwelled on issues such as social justice, protection of citizens’ rights, promotion of critical thinking, job creation, continuous sensitization on early warning systems, security consciousness, and the establishment of national/value reorientation and emergency clubs in primary schools to foster unity, peace, and inclusiveness. The session also highlighted the redefined mandate of NOA as the lead sensitization agency in Nigeria.
At the end of deliberations, stakeholders unanimously resolved to intensify efforts in inculcating national values in young people, enhance youth participation in governance processes, and deepen collaboration among agencies to achieve a more peaceful, secure, and resilient society.
