The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Kaduna Operations Office has intensified response to the flooding that followed last Friday’s heavy rainfall across several parts of Kaduna metropolis, including Kabala Costain, Kigo Road, Bashama Road, and Rafin Guza.
During assessments today Sunday 7th September, 2025, NEMA observed a further rise in the Kaduna River and its tributaries, heightening risks to more communities. The number of affected houses has now increased to 171.
To support displaced residents, an IDP camp has been opened at Kabala Costain, managed by KADSEMA. Thankfully, no casualties have been recorded.
NEMA, working with stakeholders including KADSEMA, NIWA, Red Cross, Civil Defence, and Fire Services, remains on high alert and committed to safeguarding lives as water levels continue to rise.
