NEMA JOINS NRCS TO FLAG OFF 2022 FLOOD RELIEF OPERATION FOR AFFECTED HOUSEHOLDS IN CROSS RIVER STATE

NEMA South South Zone join the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS)for the flag-off of 2022 flood relief operation for affected households in Communities of Abi, Ikom and Etung LGAs of Cross River State.
The zone was led by Mr. Usang Egede Usang (PDRRO) to the event. The NRCS was represented by its National President Elder Bolani Anani. Other Officials were the branch Secretary Mr. Eni Joseph and the Disaster Management Officer Mr. Antanyi Percy and the representative of the IFRC Mr. Gabriel Nashon. Mr. Agbor Emmanuel Ibara represented CRSEMA while Mr. Owoicho John represented the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation (PCFRR). Mr. Usang, on behalf of the Director General of NEMA, thanked the NRC for supporting persons affected by the 2022 flood in the state and assured that the gesture would complement the effort of the federal government and in deed NEMA in bringing succour to vulnerable households who were affected by the 2022 flood in Cross River State. Earlier the Disaster Management Officer of NRCS Mr. Percy informed that the initiative was a fifty thousand naira (#50,000) cash donation for 500 households in the state to cushion the effect of the 2022 flood on them. Two hundred households in Abi and 150 each in Ikom and Etung LGAs benefitted from the cash donation. Later, Mr Owoicho John of the PCFRR, thanked the NRSC for coming to the aid of the affected households. The National President of Nigerian Red Cross Society admonished the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the cash by engaging in small scale businesses to support their families.
In his remarks, the Clan Head His Highess Ovai Ivara thanked NEMA, NRSC and other partners for coming to the aid of his subjects in their time of need and assured that the money would be well utilized by the beneficiaries.
