Boat Mishap: NEMA, NIWA join HYPPADEC for Humanitarian Services in Kaduna

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Head of Kaduna Operations Office Kaduna, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad and Abdulhalim Yazid , the Kaduna State Coordinator for Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), jointly presented life-saving jackets donated by the commission to communities around Gurara Dam, Kachia, Kaduna.

He was represented by the Head of Search and Rescue Unit, AbdulQadir Muhammad during the initiative by HYPPADEC, which aims to support riverine communities to prevent future accidents and ensure safety in water transportation.

However, the team, comprising NEMA, HYPPADEC, and the National Inland Waterway Authority (NIWA), also paid a condolence visit to the Kachia Local Government Council Chairman, represented by his vice, Hussaini Moddibbo, following a recent boat mishap that resulted in loss of lives in the area.

The team also commissioned a number of boreholes in different locations within the Gurara Dam host community, providing access to clean water and improving the quality of life for residents of the area.
The joint effort shows the level of commitment of emergency response organizations to enhancing community safety, providing essential services, and promoting development in the area.

The recent gesture at Gurara Dam in Kachia, highlights the collaborative efforts between key organizations to support communities affected by disaster.
