NEMA NW Zonal Director Visits the Military in Kaduna, Fostering Enhanced Collaboration in Disaster Management

In a continuous effort to bolster the relationships with key stakeholders, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Northwest Zonal Director, Mal. Sani Lokoja assisted by the Head of Operations Office, Kaduna, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad has led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Air Force and Army commanding officers in Kaduna.

The visits underscores NEMA’s commitment to maintain the strong partnerships with the military, a critical component of the Disaster Response Units (DRU’s) framework.

During the visits, the Zonal Director conveyed the warm regards of NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubairu Umar, to Air Commodore Nasir M. Saidu, the Commanding Officer of the Nigeria Air Force 401 Air Training School, Kaduna.

The two engaged in fruitful discussions on enhancing the partnership between NEMA and the Air Force, with a focus on collaborative efforts in disaster response, management, and mitigation.

In the same approach, the team also paid a visit to Lt. Col. RR Gideon, Commanding Officer of the 37 NDA Demo Battalion in his Formation at the Nigeria Defense Academy (NDA), Main Site, Kaduna.
On this, the meeting centered more on security surveillance in the Mando-Katungare-AirPort Road area, a strategic location that hosts the Nigeria Defense Academy (NDA) and NEMA’s Permanent Office.

Lt. Col. Gideon pledged the Army’s unwavering support to NEMA, citing the agency’s relentless efforts in humanitarian service, particularly during the insurgency in the Northeast region.

In a demonstration of commitment to enhancing security measures in the are, Lt. Col. Gideon also make it necessary to assess NEMA’s facilities in the area and plan effective security surveillance.
He said the proactive approach is expected to yield improved collaboration and response in the face of emerging security challenges that has affected the area.

The visits are part of NEMA’s ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders and strengthen its disaster management framework, fostering strong relationships with the military, to enhance its capacity for effective disaster response, management, and mitigation in Nigeria.
