
NEMA South West Zonal Office received a distress call from Ogun State Emergency Management Agency ( OGSEMA) on a fire outbreak that wreaked and burnt down over Thirty (30) shops at Kuto International Market in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The NEMA assessment Team led by the Asst. Zonal Coordinator Mr Olanrewaju Kazeem was received on arrival by the Commissioner of Special Duties, Director of Ogun SEMA and staff. It was observed that the fire outbreak was as a result of power out surge. The joint assessment was carried out alongside with the following stakeholders

The fire outbreak affected properties worth millions of naira such as food stuffs, clothes, clothing accessories,sewing machines, refrigerators, generators,grinding machine e.t.c. The Asst.Zonal Coordinator NEMA SWZO, Mr Olanrewaju Kazeem sympathized with the affected persons. He also advised the shop owners to always put all their electrical gadgets off before leaving their shops and call for the establishment of Fire Service Station in the market. The State Governor appreciated NEMA for her prompt response and on behalf of affected persons appeal to the Federal Government for assistance to cushion the unbearable effect of the disaster.
