
On 26 July 2025, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Operation Office, in collaboration with other relevant agencies participated in a vital aircraft emergency operation simulation exercise organised by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), held at Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.
The simulation exercise was carried out to determine the readiness and response time of all relevant stakeholders to an aircraft emergency operation at the airport.
Key stakeholders present included :
1. National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
2. Nigerian Police Force (NPF)
3. Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau ( NSIB )
4. Nigerian Air Force
5. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA)
6. Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS)
7. Port Health Services
8. Nigeria Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA)
9. Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)
10. Airport Fire Service( Domestic And International)
11. Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)
12. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
The Simulation exercise was successful as it offered all relevant stakeholders a platform to critique the operations and provide valuable feedback for enhancing future rescue efforts.
