NEMA ZONAL DIRECTOR VISITS MILITARY DISASTER RESPONSE UNITS IN GOMBE TO STRENGTHEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE COLLABORATION

As part of the ongoing efforts to deepen inter agency collaboration in disaster preparedness and response, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Director for Northeast Zone, Mr. Sulaiman Yakubu paid a courtesy visit to military Disaster Response Units in Gombe State. The units are the Nigerian Army 301 Artillery Brigade and Nigerian Air Force Unit, Gombe.

The visits were carried out on 4th August, 2025 as the Director was accompanied by the Head of NEMA Gombe Operations Office, Ummuna Ahmed and some staff.

During the engagements, Mr. Yakubu expressed NEMA’s appreciation to the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force for their consistent support in disaster response operations across the Northeast region. He emphasized the importance of sustaining strategic partnerships with the military, especially in areas affected by natural and man-made disasters.

The Head of Gombe Operations Office, Ummuna Ahmed, also highlighted the agency’s plans to enhance flood early warning dissemination and improve joint simulation exercises with military partners.
In his response, Brigadier General AM Mohammed reaffirmed the readiness of the 301 Artillery Brigade to support NEMA’s emergency responses and strengthen civil military cooperation in humanitarian efforts.

The visits marks another milestone in NEMA’s proactive engagement with stakeholders in ensuring timely and effective disaster response in the Zone.
