The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Ibadan Operations Office, in collaboration with the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), has distributed relief materials to victims of the recent communal clashes in Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities of Osun State. Flagging off the distribution on behalf of the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Head of Ibadan Operations Office, Mr.
Kadiri Olanrewaju, commiserated with the victims over the destruction of their homes and livelihoods. He noted that the relief items were approved by the Director General to provide immediate succour, while also urging the communities to embrace peaceful coexistence and dialogue in resolving disputes to foster development.
The distributed items included rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste and maize.
The exercise was carried out jointly with the General Manager of OSEMA, Mr. Abiola Oni, and the Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun State on Emergency Management, Hon. Emiola Fakeye. Both commended NEMA for the timely intervention and advised residents of the affected communities to uphold peace and harmony.
