












At approximately 15:03hrs on June 26, 2025, a gas explosion occurred at a gas plant attached to the Total Filling Station on Alor Street, off Abakpa, Thinkers Corner in Enugu State. In response, a joint team comprising the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Enugu Operations Office, the Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (ENSEMA), the Federal Fire Service, and the State Fire Service conducted a coordinated operation to manage the situation.The explosion happened while a fully loaded LPG tanker was discharging its contents. Although the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, preliminary reports suggest it may have been due to inadequate safety measures during the discharge process.Upon arrival, the response team swiftly secured the scene by restricting public access, disconnecting the tanker’s battery, and cooling the half-full gas tank. Their prompt intervention ensured that the fire was successfully contained without any loss of life. All residual fires were extinguished during the operation.The coordinated response was effective and concluded at about 16:44hrs.
