NEMA UYO PARTICIPATES IN HUMANITARIAN STAKEHOLDERS ROUNDTABLE

The NEMA Uyo Operations Office participated in a Humanitarian Stakeholders Roundtable session organized by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

The team was led by Victor Akpakpan.The event with the theme “Strengthening The Humanitarian Community Through Act For Humanity,” and included notable dignitaries such as the States Commissioners for Humanitarian Affairs, Information, and Women Affairs.

In her opening address, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, highlighted the state government’s significant achievements in the sector. These includes the establishment of a Bulk Purchase Agency to address food scarcity and the inclusion of refugees in social development projects. She emphasized the great need for humanitarian services and the necessity of partnering with corporate organizations.

Representatives from various organizations, including NEMA, delivered goodwill messages, each reaffirming their commitment to supporting the humanitarian sector and underscoring the need for unity to achieve common goals. The agenda also featured a lecture on the state of humanitarianism in Akwa Ibom by Professor Aniekan Brown the Dean of Social Science, University of Uyo, followed by an engaging panel discussion.

The event concluded with breakout sessions, where the NEMA team specifically engaged in the Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response lecture. The session was highly productive, and the day ended with a group photograph involving all dignitaries and stakeholders present.
