NEMA Conducts Assesment Of Influx Of IDPs From Plateau State Into Bauchi State

Sequel to the aftermath of the Mangu, Bokos, and Barikin Ladi crisis in plateau state, resulting in an influx of IDPs into Bauchi state, following reports of request for intervention from the Agency by the Representative for Tafawa Balewa, Das, and Bogoro federal constituency. The Head of Operations, NEMA Gombe Operatiins Office, Ummuna Ahmed, led a team to assess the situation in Tafawa Balewa, Das, Bogoro, and Bauchi metropolitan LGAs in Bauchi state. Preliminary findings indicate that 2,816 IDPs reside with host communities in Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa, and Das, while 6,976 are with host communities in Bauchi metropolitan. The challenges include the urgent need for shelter, food, and drinking water for the IDPs. Observations highlight a potential outbreak of communicable diseases due to the lack of portable drinking water, with a notable concentration of affected individuals being women and children.
