National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office Participated in Kano State Re-Integration Committee, Case Management Expert Team, and Monitoring & Evaluation Team Joint Meeting .
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, participated in a joint meeting of the Re-Integration Committee, Case Management Expert Team, and Monitoring & Evaluation Team held on 21st August 2025.
The aims of the meeting were to:
1. Review migrants reception and reintegration status.
2. Identify challenges in reintegration processes.
3. Enhance coordination among stakeholders.
During the meeting, it was reported that between May and August 2025, a total of 3,280 migrants were received. However, majority of the Migrants were not given reintegration support by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Key issues discussed included complaints from some returnees who approached the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) seeking additional support due to incomplete reintegration.
The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration and advocacy, including courtesy visits to the Kano State Government and the Commissioner for Youth, Women Affairs, and Humanitarian Affairs, to address these challenges and improve reintegration processes.
