
NEMA Yola Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received a report from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) regarding recent attacks by unidentified gunmen in Garkida Community, located in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The report indicates that the attacks took place on 4th February and 16th April 2025. These coordinated assaults led to multiple casualties, injuries, displacement of residents, and extensive destruction of property, including residential buildings and places of worship.
Communities affected include Cross Garkida, Kwalaba Garkida, Nbewa Garkida, and areas near the Army checkpoint within Gombi LGA. A significant number of displaced individuals are currently seeking shelter with host families and in neighboring communities.
The magnitude of the incident has overwhelmed the response capabilities of both local and state emergency.
NEMA is actively engaging with ADSEMA and other key stakeholders and is taking steps to commence its own verification and response operations.
